Seafront Kitchens Gear Up for the Summer Rush

The busiest weeks of the year are arriving for Bournemouth's seafront kitchens. From the restaurants either side of Bournemouth Pier to the beach houses strung west towards Branksome, terrace tables by the water are the season's hardest booking, and the advice from every front-of-house team is the same: plan ahead.

Summer changes how the seafront eats. Lunch stretches into the afternoon, early-evening tables go to families straight off the sand, and the sunset sittings, the ones with the bay turning gold behind the menus, are reserved days in advance on good forecasts.

Where the tables are

The seafront's range is wider than visitors expect. West Beach by the pier holds down the seafood end, Urban Reef overlooks the surf at Boscombe, and Rockwater gives Branksome its polished beach-house evening. Between them sit kiosks, cafes and beach bars that need no booking at all, which is half the joy of eating with sand still on your feet.
