Camden Bar & Kitchen is a small independent bar tucked into the middle of Westbourne, on Seamoor Road, the kind of neighbourhood spot locals mean when they talk about Westbourne's "urban village" feel. It's been running since 2010, and its own line on the concept is blunt and to the point: "we don't do fast food, we do good food, good drinks, and good times."
Food and drink
The kitchen keeps things simple rather than fussy, with burgers as the anchor of the menu alongside a solid drinks list, cocktails, beer and wine. It's built more for a relaxed bite and a proper drink than a formal sit-down meal. A daily happy hour runs from 4pm to 7pm, with cocktails offered at 2-4-£15, which makes it a popular after-work stop as much as an evening destination.
Atmosphere
By day, Camden is easy-going, a good spot to sit with a coffee, a burger or a first drink of the evening. Come Friday and Saturday night, a resident house DJ takes over and the mood picks up, turning the bar into one of Westbourne's livelier weekend haunts. Outdoor seating gives you the option of watching Westbourne's little high street go by rather than staying inside.
Good to know
Walk-ins are welcome for most visits, though Camden also takes bookings and can arrange private hire for groups of more than six via phone or email. It's a short stroll from the rest of Westbourne's independent shops and cafes, and not far from the clifftop and beach at Alum Chine.
