China Town is a well-established Chinese takeaway on Columbia Road, tucked into a residential stretch of Bournemouth rather than the seafront or town centre. It's built around delivery and collection rather than a dining room, ordered online through its own site or Just Eat, and its reach extends well beyond the immediate neighbourhood.
The menu
The kitchen covers familiar Chinese takeaway ground, dim sum, soups, chop suey, sweet & sour and foo yung dishes, plus a Chef's Specialities section and a run of Mongolian-style plates. Two dishes stand out as signatures: Crispy Aromatic Duck, served in quarter or half portions, and Char Siu Chow Mein. The menu also stretches beyond Chinese cooking into Thai red and green curries and a Japanese udon noodle section, giving a bit more range than a typical local takeaway. Vegetarian dishes have their own section, and every item carries allergen labelling for things like gluten, soya, egg and shellfish.
Ordering and hours
China Town is closed on Mondays. From Tuesday to Sunday it opens from 4.30pm, with delivery and collection running into the evening, last orders are earlier on Tuesdays and stretch later towards the weekend. Delivery covers a broad set of postcodes (BH1, BH2, BH3, BH8, BH9, BH10, BH11, BH12 and BH22), so it reaches well beyond Columbia Road itself, and set dinners for one to six people make it a straightforward option for a family order. Check current hours and delivery zones on the website before ordering, especially around holidays.
