Fika takes its name from the Swedish word for a coffee break, and it delivers exactly that on Westover Road, a short walk from the Bournemouth International Centre and the Lower Gardens. It was the first site of a distinctive local concept: a café built to anchor a building that also rents out beauty treatment rooms to independent nail technicians, massage therapists and other self-employed professionals, launched here in December 2021 before a second site, Crema, opened in Boscombe.
The coffee and pastries
Coffee and tea are the main event, served alongside a solid pastry counter, almond croissants and pain au chocolat are regulars, with vegan options available too. It's built as a proper neighbourhood coffee stop rather than a full menu café, the kind of place suited to a quick espresso or a slower sit-in with a book.
Where it is
Fika sits at 7 Westover Road, BH1 2BA, right in the middle of Bournemouth's civic and cultural quarter, close to the BIC, the Pavilion and the Lower Gardens, and an easy walk down to the seafront. It's a handy stop whether you're heading to a show, cutting through the gardens, or just passing along Westover Road.
Good to know
It's open daily, roughly 7am to 5pm, and is both dog-friendly and wheelchair accessible, with free WiFi for anyone settling in. As with any independent café, it's worth checking Fika's Facebook page for the current hours or menu before a special visit, particularly around holidays.
