Darcy's Bar & Kitchen is a family-run bistro bar on Christchurch Road in Southbourne, opposite the Sainsbury's Local and a short walk from Pokesdown station. Since October 2025 it's been run by Sarah and Wayne, who also run Burbs Kitchen Event Catering nearby, a change of hands that's kept the venue's easy-going, come-as-you-are character intact.
Food and drink
Mornings and early afternoons are built around breakfast and brunch, pancakes, avocado on toast, homemade granola and croissants, served alongside a full lunch menu. Thursday to Saturday, the kitchen reopens in the evening for tapas and small plates, and Sunday brings a traditional roast, with breakfast first thing and lunch service running into the afternoon. At the bar, handcrafted cocktails and mocktails sit alongside Darcy's own house-blend coffee, with a daily happy hour between 5pm and 7pm.
Atmosphere and events
Inside seats around 40, with another 20 places out in the garden, and the mood throughout is relaxed rather than formal, dogs are welcome and so are families. Beyond everyday service, there's a regular events calendar: a quiz on the first Thursday of the month, card bingo on the fourth, live music, occasional drag bingo and theme nights, plus a seasonal Moules & Frites night each autumn and winter. The venue also takes private hire bookings.
Good to know
Darcy's holds a 5-star food hygiene rating. Opening hours run Monday to Wednesday 8am-3pm, Thursday to Saturday 8am-10pm and Sunday 9am-5pm, extending to 7pm on summer Sundays. There's no dedicated car park, but it sits on a bus route close to Southbourne's high street, with on-street parking nearby. Hours and the events programme can change, so it's worth checking the website or calling ahead of a visit.
