A Green Flag Award-winning community park in Winton, north Bournemouth, with tennis courts, a bowls club, cricket pitch, cycle track and café.

Winton Recreation Ground is a Green Flag Award-winning community park on Fitzharris Avenue in Winton, a residential area of north Bournemouth. It's the only significant green space serving the surrounding square mile or so, and it packs in a lot for its size, more a hub for local sport and everyday recreation than a destination for visitors chasing sea views.

Facilities

The ground has six tennis courts, home to Winton Tennis Club (founded in 1991), a bowling green used by Richmond Park Bowls Club, a cricket pitch and a cycle track, alongside a children's play area, woodland and open grassed playing fields. Winton Park Café, run by volunteers for The Parks Foundation, serves cakes, sandwiches and light lunches from 9am to 4.30pm daily, with step-free access and accessible seating.

Visiting

Entry is free with open access throughout. There are two free car parks, reached from Maxwell Road or Fitzharris Avenue, plus additional street parking nearby. Dogs are welcome on the grass and on leads inside the café.

It's a well-loved, everyday park rather than a tourist attraction, but worth knowing about if you're staying nearby with children or fancy a game of tennis or bowls. Explore more of the area in our guide to things to do in Bournemouth.
