Mongolian Rock Phenomenon The HU Book Bournemouth Date

One of the most distinctive live acts on the planet is heading for the south coast. The HU, the Mongolian band whose mix of throat singing, traditional instruments and heavyweight riffs has filled venues across Europe and North America, have booked O2 Academy Bournemouth for their Warrior Chant Tour this autumn.

The band broke through with videos that racked up tens of millions of views and went on to tour with some of rock's biggest names. Their sound, built on the morin khuur horsehair fiddle and sung almost entirely in Mongolian, translates into something enormous in a live room, and the Academy's 1,800 capacity puts it within touching distance.

A coup for Boscombe

Landing a tour of this profile is another mark of how far the Academy's booking has come. The venue on Christchurch Road in Boscombe has been pulling increasingly big names to the east side of town, and gig nights now spill happily into the surrounding bars and kitchens.
